Some rescue calls stay with you forever.
A woman in Hawley passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind 19 dogs. Her husband—grieving, overwhelmed, and alone—was trying to care for them the best he could. Adult Protective Services reached out to us on a Thursday, asking if we could help. We said yes. They tried contacting him again on Friday, but there was no answer.
On Monday, APS went to check on him.
He had died in the home.
And inside that home and around the property… nineteen dogs were still waiting. Confused. Hungry. Terrified. With no one left to care for them.
Over the course of a week, our team trapped all 19 dogs—each one scared, each one unsure, each one deserving of safety and love. Some had never known a world beyond survival.
But now they are safe.
Now they have a chance.
And now we need your help.
